President Bush is unlikely to declare victory outright: it would be an open invitation for extremists to perpetrate some outrage to prove him wrong. What he may well do is make a Treaty with the government he has set up in Iraq so that the United States and allied troops become "advisors" (or some such status), and he is also likely to make a show of reducing troop numbers. Rather than saying he has won Bush will then point to his successes, as he will claim them, in Iraq.

I greatly doubt it, because this process takes a little longer than a couple of years. You should read a book on the modern history of Turkey; you will find that it took them approximately 30 years to establish a strong democracy that could not be toppled by extremist. If President Bush declares victories in Iraq, it will be safe to bet that these victories will be the same as the victories that have already been declared. Legitimate and provable accomplishments toward the named objective.

NO. Obama is driving on the certainty that no human beings would desire to have ever set foot in Iraq. AND if the surge worked, deliver em living house, no prob. top? stay the coarse? What coarse? what's the PLAN? what grew to become into the plan? grew to become into there a plan? FYI...Iraq is chaos because of the fact of G.W. Bush. McSamebush could have you ever suspect that is HIS surge. ha ha ha. the two way get waiting for some solid ol American democratic coverage variations. as quickly as lower back a democrat has to repair each and all the Bush mishaps.

What will happen is that BUSH will have a nuke detonated within the USA borders before 08 and blame it on Iran so he can start a full blown world war. Mark my words.

08 elections will be suspended, martial law will be put in effect and BUSH will proclaim himself the supreme leader of the USA until things stabilize. Problem is, it will NEVER stabilize in our lifetimes.

I don't know if it will be in 08 or not, but I think that once their government & military is in place then yes, it will be a success.

i think he will move on to iran, syria, north korea, or lebannon, but he won't declare victory on the war on terror, but if things stabalize in Iraq he will shift it from the front of our minds
