I use to work in laws-enforcement and i never seen anything like this...$100.00 parking tickets...$300.00 moving violations....I wish I could appeal to congress or somebody......the AMOUNT OF A VIOLATION SHOULD EQUATE THE ""AVERAGE"" CITIZEN'S INCOME... A citizen should not have to choose between paying their rent or a ticket??? Does anyone agree with me???

I AGREE WITH U TOTALLY THEY SHOULD HAVE A SYSTEM DESIGNED WHERE THEY CAN LOOK UP YOUR ANNUAL INCOME AND DETERMINE WHAT YOUR TICKET SHOULD BE AND FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNEMPLOYED THERE IS JUST A SET RATE.

The whole point is to keep people from violating the laws. If you don't want to pay $300, then don't speed or do whatever you were doing that made you get the ticket in the first place. And hello, you do have 30 days to pay. It's not like they give you the ticket and then you have to turn around and pay it that day.

I think the prices are fair. Don't break the law and you don't have to worry.

Plus, if it was "cheap" then everyone would get a ticket, instead of obeying the law.

And where is rent $100 or $300? I would like to go there! LOL We spend more than that on groceries a month.

You are exactly right! Cities and counties have discovered that they can CONSTANTLY raise these fines Without anyone voting on it, so that's why they are so high. It has nothing to do with safety or anything else. It's revenue enhancement, and nothing more.

Same with those cameras at intersections. They say it's for SAFETY. BULL SH** It's a way to bring in more money without having to pay a cop to do it. Also, the camera doesn't take vacations or get sick, so it's a pure money maker.

I agree avoiding them should be the answer and sometimes things do happen. If you go to court sometimes the judge will work with you on payments. I don't know where you live so, I don't know the rules in your area. You have to have a place to live so, I'd check it out if you can make payments. I don't know why the tickets are so high, maybe to make an impact on a person so, they don't do it again. Good Luck!

Whoever set the laws really doesn't want people to break them. I personally think they deserve an a$$ whooping for setting them so high, especially when most of the people that get tickets are students. I'd much rather take the kick in the butt that politicians get for perjury, larceny, and much more costly crimes.

I don't agree with you. It wouldn't be fair to other citizens. It's simpler to just have a set dollar amount for each violation. Plus, if you did receive the ticket, it was probably for a good reason and therefore you deserve it.

Why, did you get one?

not really....if you feel you have to speed, or break the driving laws....then you should be punished accordingly. They have the rules there for the safety of you and everyone else. There should be no exceptions. Not even for cops, though they always get away with it. Espically here in detroit!

I think those prices are rediculously high (and could really screw someone's life up...). But, on the other-hand, they are set really high to discourage bad behavior. So, I guess that they are fair.

It's because if you make the mistake once, they want you to realize how costly it is and not make it again.
