How could anyone from those classes vote for a multi millionaire or billionaire? How could they possibly have the same economic interests? Is this a form of hero worship? Celebrity worship? Money worship? In most cases, a wealthy businessman who is elected will promote his own interests above those of the people. He will return favors to cronies or help to subsidize private industry even if it is at the expense of his constituency. I don't mean to beat a dead horse but George W. Bush just follows in a long line of these types of national or state leaders. Can't it ever be possible to have a true populist or man of the people (middle or lower class) run for president? I am an idealist. I know. But more people should open their minds and dream. It gives you the incentive to get out of bed every day and improves your overall mental health. Constant pessimism or cynicism leads to the mental ward. But with that being said, you should always question authority.

I am NOT a Democrat or Republican. i did not support Kerry. And yes, I know quite well that he is also a near billionaire. (He might actually be a billionaire from the last stats i saw. The only Senator that can rival his wealth might be Herb Kohl of Wisconsin).

Just look at what's happening right now. Politicians -- and especially the Republicans right now -- have perfected the evil art of manipulating the emotions of ignorant, uneducated people. Everything the Republicans do is bad for 99% of the population. They give tax cuts to millionaires, while the debt rises and the public schools are screwed (and the people you ask about send their kids to public schools). And how do they get the very people they're screwing to vote for them?...
The Republicans get people in Red States riled up about stupid issues. Gay marriage, for instance. How does gay marriage affect anyone who isn't gay? It doesn't. But they manipulate people's emotions, and get them all angry about stupid issues like this, all the time convincing them that the Democrats (who are also sleazy & corrupt, but no where near the level the Republicans are) are crazy liberals who want to burn their bibles and make their kids gay. It's so obvious -- they always trot out the gay marriage issue around election time! It's just a big distraction!
There's no doubt that the Dems would be better for regular people, but the bad guys have painted them as liberal, weak, communists who think they're smarter than the working class.
Sorry this is such a long answer, but it's a topic that disgusts me greatly.

The President of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is much better than the choices we had at election time and Democrats just talk to the poor and middle class to get their votes. Don't let the Dems fool you they are out for themselves they just act like they are for the underdog to get into office. More people should stop listening to the media and ask the people running what they stand for, then research and see if they told you the truth. Check out some Independents, just read up on all politicians and see how they have voted on issues that interest you and go from there you don't have to go with one party.

I have voted republican in the last three elections because I am very concerned about abortion. I strongly believe as a form of birth control abortion is wrong. There in lies the rub for me concerning the democratic party.

Because economic interest is not the only thing that people look at. Some people have morals or things that they don't believe are right. And may vote for the one that they think is right.

None of the above--they are able to see in the big picture. I make about $20k per year and am conservative and Republican --not because I listen to Rush Limbaugh, but because I took Macroeconomics in college.
