Is it in certain areas of Houston or all over? Are there major health concerns with the pollution? Many people with allergies are having problems in Houston? Is there a bad case of west nile virus?

Houston can flood, But usually it is a result of extreme storm activity, like hurricane's or tropical storms. It is only certain areas of Houston that really have issues with it. My home in a northern suburb was outside the 100 yr flood plane and sure enough when the 100 flood came a few years back my home was high and dry. (of course there was only one way dry enough to drive to my neighborhood, but my home was fine) ;) Flash flooding of streets can occur in most parts of the city though if a big enough storm comes in(once or twice a year). These are known low lieing/flood prone areas.

My asthma is better since leaving Houston, so the air pollution levels can be an irritant to those with breathing related conditions. (Asthma, allergies, etc..) But it is not a major health risk by itself. They do issue smog alerts when certain weather patterns cause the city's pollution to hang around instead of dissipating, mainly this occurs in summer.

No the city fights mesquitos by spraying on a regular basis.

Flooding only happens a couple of times a year, only in certain locations, and is usually over quickly unless it's due to a tropical storm (Allison) or hurricane or something.

No major health concerns with the pollution. There will be ozone warnings issued if it's too bad and you'll hear about it on the news/radio.

Haven't heard of any problems with West Nile. Most areas are sprayed with insecticide by the city to keep mosquito population under control.

It's true. It gets hot, humid, sometimes tornadoes. I want to live in Houston, Texas when I grow up. I follow people's opinions of what Texas is like, but I have my own decision on where to live. My opinion on floods, yes, there are floods. If I were to visit Houston, now, I hope I wouldn't get caught in a flood and drown. West Nile Virus, I don't know!!! Talk to somebody who knows, or look in H for Houston, Texas.

No on both questions.

It only floods in certain areas of town, low areas just like any where.

No problem with West Nile Virus, Have only heard of 17 people in the past 3 years getting that.

If you are a christian, then you don't need to worry about it.

Stay away from the feeder road on 45. Unless you suffer from asthma or some respiratory problems not to worry. West Nile? Haven't heard of anything as far as anyone getting that sick.

Yes, it's all true, and we have to move our horses to higher ground when the water rises (really clogs the freeways too). But worse than that, it's that disgusting oil slick that covers everything once the water recedes and takes all the oil with it. But we manage, we just pull on our boots, put em up on the coffee table and relax while sipping a cold one. After that, we slaughter a steer and call in the chuck wagon to prepare us a feast. So it's not all bad!
