It's very normal not to have an appetite, especially if you're having morning/afternoon/night sickness. I lived on saltines and ginger ale for about 3 months it seemed like. Be sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins, eat when you feel like it and be assured that around the 6th month, you'll probably be eating more than you'd like. :-) Just be sure to eat healthy and take care of yourself.
Good luck and congratulations

Depending on how far along you are, you will feel "morning sickness" and may not feel hungry and yes that is normal especially if you are feeling nausea, my wife went through the same things in early pregnancy, and wieght loss, she lost 40 lbs with her first baby and the second she didn't lose or gain weight. I guess what I'm saying is that it varies with each pregnancy. The second trimester is usually the period when you will get an appetite back, also you had mentioned that you were overweight, the weight gain for most overweight women during pregnancy is around 15-20 lbs vs. 30-35 for those not overweight.

Yes it is normal, but if it persists throughout the pregnancy, keep bringing it up with your doctor. Just about anything can be normal with pregnancy. They are different and can cause drastic changes with the body. Others barely affect the woman at all.
Appetite can come and go. You may not have any appetite for the first month and then suddenly you want to eat everything in site.

Yes, it is very normal. I suggest making yourself a smoothie every day and packing it with nutrition! When I don't feel hungry but don't really have a reason for not feeling hungry, I make a smoothie. You can get all sorts of powdered green food veggie suppliments, put a scoop of that in there, a variety of frozen fruit and fresh bananas, whatever tastes good and blend it with rice milk, that's much gentler on your tummy than cows milk or soy milk. Drink one of those a day and then you'll know you're getting a boost of nutrition. Keep taking your vitamins but don't rely on them!
Also, warm rice with milk, sweetened with sugar or cinnamon sugar is excellent for unhappy tummies. If you feel up to it you can add raisins or chopped apples. I like it with bananas and maple syrup instead of sugar too.
Alot of women lose weight their first trimester. I went from 115 to 100 pounds in the first three months but I weight 160 when I went into the hospital (and 130 when I got out, never lost it either, I might add!) My daughter was fat and healthy and began plotting to take over the world in the nursery.

Definately! with my little girl I lost 15 lbs in the first trimester. Believe me you will start gaining it back a little later. Try eating little portions of like fruit or even yogurt something healthy. Im sure if you are taking your prenatle vitamins and your doc hasent said anything about it, it will be fine. Im sure if he does notice something he would say something right away. When you start to feel dizzy or nausia starts to come on try sucking on a piece of hard candy. My doctor told me that was happening to me because of me not eating much, the baby was just taking all of my energy and most of my sugar intake! Good luck things get better!

it is normal i was the same way when i was pregnant my doctor just told me that i had to eat something at least twice a day and to make sure that i got 8 glasses of water a day and that everything would be fine when you feel nauseous and not hungry try some saltine crackers or a piece of bread try to eat a few smaller meals during the day it will help keep the dizziness and the nausea away

I was actually thinking the contrary...my sis used to crave for food when she was carrying..my mom used to make delicious food at that just for her!!!
So that way..i think a sudden drop in appetite has to be checked and pls do not ignore it...
God bless ya with a lovely kid and a smooth delivery.
Wow...Riki ( above)..mommy of seven!!!! cool...i love kids!!!

I'm the same way, i crave NOTHING, (Not like i don't crave anything, i crave nothing!) Like i crave not to eat!
It's wierd, but i try and force myself to eat a little because i know i'll get sick very quickly and dizzy!
So maybe snacks are good, oranges, crackers, anything small, but you need to eat something!
Good Luck!

Totally normal. It happens a lot with people who start out "overweight". As others have said, when yopu do eat, eat well, and talk to your dr if you're worried.

Depends on how far along you are???? Are you suffering from morning sickness? Well, that can sure put a damper on an appitite....... Try eating small snacks and nutrious ones..... Dont deprive your baby from nutrition....... I know it is hard to stomach some stuff sometimes, but try....
