TEST IS CLEARLY BEST AND VALUED HIGH BY CRICKET PROFESSIONALS AND CRITICS.
IN ODI BATSMEN PROTECTED BY POWER PLAY RULES AND BOWLING RESTRICTIONS.
BUT TEST CRICKET IS THE ACID TEST FOR BATSMEN AND BOWLERS.
5TH DAY PITCH IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN 1ST DAY
BATSMAN NEEDS PATIENCE, TREMENDOUS SKILL TO COPE-UP.
TEST CRICKET HAS THE TOUGHNESS, CLASS, PRIDE.

One Day cricket is pretty ordinary if you ask me.
Most people I know don't even care who won a one-day series between Country A & B. I can't even remember most of the games because there are so so so so so so many of them.
But I can remember the Test matches and series wins and losses.
Take for instance the Aus v Eng Ashes series last year. I can't tell you who won the one-dayers at all (vague memory tells me England for some reason).
As for the Ashes Test series, it was one for the ages. Each Test had alot riding on it and each day of the Test was a battle. Add that to the lure of the series win and you've got cricket that really means something.
TEST CRICKET IS SO MUCH TOUGHER.
I wouldn't care if one dayers were reduced to a MAXIMUM of 3 game series between the 2 countries as a side show to the real game.
In one-dayers, the players don't play real cricket shots, you don't have the aggressive short bowling, you can't tempt batsman into taking big shots (they do anyway), and in the end does it really matter if you win a one-day game. That's why there is temptation for corruption in one-day cricket.
The only time it actually does matter is in the World Cup.
The showpiece is Test cricket and any real cricket lover will tell you that.

Test is more valued than onedayers.. this is because One day is too fast n does not give u enough opporunities to change ur strategy whereas the Test provides the captains and management to modify there strategy. Also a test is played in sessions hence every team has a fair chance e.g. the first hour of the first morning is helpful for mediun pacers and then the pitch detreriorates to provide spinners some assistence. hence the real mind game is Test match cricket.
the first test b/w India and west indies was a perftect exampleof this. even though the India were bowled out for 241 in their first innings but they managed to take the game till the last ball of the match and match was drawn as India cud not got the tailenders out. can a team who has scored such a low score on a belter in onedayers come this close?? the answer is no in most of the cases.
The captains can declare their innings according to their gameplan and thisalso makes test matches treat to watch. The bowlers can bowl their heart out and the batsman can bat as they like.
Test match is the right place to judge a player in terms of hiscapabiltites to bowl , bat and change stradegy according to the situation.

Test match cricket. One day internationals were introduced to bring in the crowds and as a money spinner during the 1970's. Born out of the fact that Kerry Packer thought the cricketers were underpaid and undervalued. He generated the desire for cricketing organisations to pay internationals paid the money they now get paid. Test match cricket is the next step up from first class matches and is a true indicator of the highest level of cricket. It still is the defining moment in a cricketers career.

The true character comes in Test Cricket. It requires technical ability, mental strength, patience and tactics. One day cricket is all about hitting the ball. Bowlers dont have a chance there.... Whereas in Test Cricket batsmen play where bowlers have some help from the pitch and also the rules (short pitched deliveries)

Definitely test cricket is more tougher then ODI's...If u talk abt value nowadays one day cricket is more valued then test bcoz it is less time consuming and there will be the result at the end of the day but one day cricket in my opinion is purely based on luck if u played well on that day u will win while in test u have five days to prove urself and u have two innings if by chance u failed in first innings u have another chance to recover but in ODI's there is no second chance...companies spend more in marketing in ODI's bcoz its more entertaining and huge crowd is expected in ODI;s but in test sometimes it gets boring and one more reason that ODI's is more valued nowadys bcoz life has become so fast that people dont have time to see a test for five days thats y mostly peoples likes ODI's

Test cricket is the real cricket as it enables cricketers to utilize full 5 days to use their cricketing skills...and unlike one dayers..test match's result are inevitable till the final day...Test cricket is given more value and appreciation as it is the first and real form of cricket whereas One dayers came later...!!

Test matches are more valuable for genuine cricket lovers who understand the strategies of cricket as it gives chances for the opposition to come back in a match. Moreover it tests a cricketer's skills for concentrating for long periods of time.It is tougher to concentrate throughout five days of test matches.
But for other viewers it is one day because they get their money worth and result at the end of the day and do not have to wait for 5 days for getting the result.
But test cricket is true test of character hence making it more valuable form of cricket.

Tests are tougher and more valued. In the past they only played tests but because of the length of time it takes for a test match to end, people began losing interest. That's when ODI's were introduced.
