The 800 meters is not a sprint, it's a middle distance event. If you ran it without being in decent condition, it's very likely you'd be prostrate at the end of the race.

At 13, you should be able to runthat distance in about 2:30 without keeling over, unless you're in bad shape, overweight or have never run before...

Sometimes that happens to me; I'm a female hurdler (400IM and 100HH) and jumper. I'm 14. We have workouts where we do mostly 400s and down. When I ran the 800 for times in my physical education class(2:36), I stopped after I passed the finish line and it felt like my butt and back upper thighs were going to fall off. My coaches all said that it was due to the fact that my body wasn't used to such speeds at such distances. Even though I get 69's and 70's in my 400IM (which would be around a 62 or 63 normal 400) without really hurting, the 800 hurt. It's mostly because your muscles don't know how to handle the extra push. This is only if you don't normally do the 800, however. If that's your event, then something might be wrong and you shoudl get it checked out. Otherwise, keep on working on those muscles!

thirteen sputeen... age has nothing to do with it, if you ran as hard as you could, no matter how much in shape you are, standing after a race is hard lol, I am 20 and a decathlete, after my last race ( 1500 meters ) I dont want to stand lol who would, and I always give everything I have.... but if you have doubts on the amount you put into it, then go see what a doctor ha to say, there can be bone problems/blood/muscle problems that could cause that, good luck, keep it up

well, not really. i mean if u did that and u couldn't stand up then i think u should go see a doc or sumthin and get checked out. i mean i have ashtma and allergies and i usually am fine unless i runlike 5 miles or sumthin. when i ran the 800 meter sprint, i wuz a little winded but after i walked around for a little bit, i wuz fine. let us kno if everythang's alright with that.

Depends how fit you normally are. 13 is a strange age for this sort of thing, you may be having a growth spurt and your body couldn't cope with the energy required. If you recovered quickly and felt okay, I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on yourself. If it took you a long time to recover and feel normal, you may be coming down with or recovering from a virus. If it happens again, see a doctor just to be safe.

It may be nothing and just fatigue but don't risk your health to the "experts" on yahoo answers. Go have yourself checked out by a doctor preferably one who specializes in sports medicine.

Many problems can be solved if caught early. It would be terrible to find out your never going to run again 5 years down the road and find out it all would have been preventable if you'd have gotten checked.

No, your probably just a little out of shape, after my first cross country race, I couldn't stand for like 20 minutes! Just keep running and you will start to improve, your stamina will increase, and your legs won't hurt so bad after you are done.

800m is not sprint. And it does depend on how fit you are. I'm sure anyone could do the 800m in a sprint with a lot of practice though.

i dunno about not being able to stand up but i recently ran 500 metres and had to sit down for a while because i was wrecked,so id say after running for 800 metres if you were out of shape it is normal for you not to be bursting wih energy! However not being able to stand up may need to be checked out by a doctor just to be safe
