My office is having a world cup soccer pool, but i don't know anything about soccer. Can people please tell me the #1 and #2 favorites to win in Groups A to H?

Follow these guidelines
1. Germany will beat everyone in the first round. They are the host country.
2. Brazil will beat everyone in the first round. They are the defending champions.
3. Any European team playing an African, Asian, North or Central American team will win. The tournament is in Europe.
4. Any South American team playing an African, Asian, North or Central American team will win. An african team might pull off an upset, but more times than not, the South American team will win.
5. Any African team will beat any Asian team
6. If two teams are from the same region, it will be a draw.
7. As far as the second round, these are just guesses. I would pick Brazil and Germany in the finals, England and Spain in the Semis, Mexico, Poland, Spain, and Saudi Arabia in the quarterfinals.

This is how we do it back home. You can bet on the group leaders. That is the team that scored the most points in each group. Then you can bet on the 8 resulting teams,that means when u ge to the knock out stage and theres 16 teams left, you bet on the 8 teams thats will make it to the quarter finals. And who ever has the most teams wins written down wins. Then on the quarter finals you bet on the 4 that will make it. And the on the semi finals as well. OR, you can all just bet on a TEAM that is gonna WIN the World cup. And if two people choose the same team. They split the money.
