Greetings from the Yahoo Brain in New York City!
Hope you're watching the live Answers webcast at http://advision.webevents.yahoo.com/asktheplanet/brain.html !
That's a tough one, as until recently, dating someone 10 years younger than me would have been illegal in many states! I can't imagine dating someone 10 years older than me, to be honest, but thankfully I don't have to. My wife is a convenient 2 years younger than me, and that's perfect. I once dated someone 5 years younger than me, but it wasn't a good match as we didn't really have common interests or friends.
Hope this helps!

In some culture, and it is probably male dominated, the ideal age for a woman is to take the guy's age, divide by 2, and add seven. So.... if you are a guy thirty years old, your female date should be 30/2 +7 = 22. A guy 60 should date a woman 60/2 + 7 = 37. A guy 16 should date a woman 16/2 + 7 = 15.
If you are a woman you can also calculate how old your guy should be. In some cases you date a guy more than ten years older, but you don't date a guy ten years younger.
Don't really believe this, but it is an interesting formula.

I never consider age when looking at a person. I have been out with people both considerably older and younger than me. At the moment, I would probably say 10 years older, because I'm 27 and 17 does seem a little too young

I would rather date someone 10 years younger, because consequently, they make me feel younger. I date some older, some younger, but I PREFER younger.

Hopefully I never have to worry about this but, if I were to find myself on the open market again...
I really wouldn't want to go cruising the senior centers and retirement homes, so I guess I'd have to go for the 10 years younger dates. Now, the important question: What on Earth would make a 30 something go for an old fart like me?

10 years older, i rather be the younger one in the relationship. I'm just old fashion that way, just feels weird if I'm dating a younger guy, and i couldn't see myself getting romantic with him either.
older men have done more with their life and would have more to talk about then a younger guy, my opinion anyhow.
