"Katherine" by Anya Seton
It's a novel based on the true story of a 14th Century English prince and the woman he loved but couldn't marry. Anya Seton had a talent for breathing life into characters and settings. When you get done with this book, you will feel like you've lived through 30 years of love and war with John and Katherine. It's like a fairy tale set in the real world - with the requisite happy ending, all the more better because it's true.

Colony by Anne Rivers Siddons. It's an easy read, the characters are vividly described, and the story is interesting with a surprising twist.
Or an author along the lines of Grisham: Richard North Patterson. Degree of Guilt is his best.

(I'm 19) My favorite books are:
Little House Series -- Laura Ingalls Wilder (good, she's a pioneer, they move alot, there's 9 books total)
Beany Malone series -- Lenora Mattingly Weber (they take place near the end of WWII up until early 50's. Beany lives in Denver and its just about her in highschool and then later she gets married)
Betsy-Tacy seires -- Maud Hart Lovelace (this takes place in the early 1900s. I think Betsy graduates highschool in like 1905. There's 10 books total from kindergarden until she gets married. They are all good but you'd just want to read the last 6...highschool and till she gets married)
Harry Potter series -- JK Rowling (Harry Potter rocks and the books are WAY better then the movies so if you havn't already read all 6!!!)
Roswell High series -- Melinda Metz (if you've ever seen the show Roswell, these books inspired the show)
Fingerprints series -- Melinda Metz (About a girl with supernatural powers, shes a senior if you like the Roswell books then you like these)
Pride and Prejudice -- Jane Austen
Gone with the Wind -- Margaret Mitchell (also way better then the movie)
If you liked Pride and Prejudice you will like all of Jane Austens books so read all those!
You would probably also like Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. And Gone with the Wind too!
Victoria Holt books are good too. They mostly take place in England in the 1800s, late and early. They are romance with slight murder conspiracy's and usually a girl that needs to marry well.
Shopoholic series by Sopie Kinsella is good too. It takes place in London, its modern and a comedy very good books.

Some of my favorite books:
I Know This Much Is True
and
She's Come Undone
--both by Wally Lamb. He has a gift for writing, for making characters and stories real. They aren't exactly light, but I couldn't put them down.
March by Geraldine Brooks
--written from the viewpoint of the father of the March girls from Little Women. It is his account of his experiences in the Civil War, the reason for his absence from the book, Little Women.
Brooks is great at taking on the voices of her narrators and making them sound authentic.
The Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy
--another book I couldn't put down. It's about the Citadel, the military academy out east and hazing incidents there as well as being the story of 4 best friends.

Try reading one of George Orwell's, such as "Animal Farm" or "1984." The contents may be outdated, because they deal with Marxism, Communism, Stalinism and Leninism. That is if you are interested in politics. But at least those books will give you some knowledge about those ideologies, and an understanding why it, communism, was hated by America.

These are not my favorites, however you may enjoy them since you mentioned Pride and Prejudice. Stephanie Barron has been highly praised for her ability to "channel" Jane Austen and be true to the writing style. The first 8 have been published, the last one is due out in November, perfect for a summer of reading!
Stephanie Barron: Jane Austen Mysteries
JANE AND THE UNPLEASANTNESS AT SCARGRAVE MANOR
JANE AND THE MAN OF THE CLOTH
JANE AND THE WANDERING EYE
JANE AND THE GENIUS OF THE PLACE
JANE AND THE STILLROOM MAID
JANE AND THE PRISONER OF WOOL HOUSE
JANE AND THE GHOSTS OF NETLEY
JANE AND HIS LORDSHIP'S LEGACY
JANE AND THE BARQUE OF FRAILTY

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy - it was recommended by Oprah! If you like romance and some drama, this is a good read.
Since you liked Pride and Prejudice, you'll probably like her other works. More Jane Austen books:
-Persuasion
-Sense and Sensibility
-Emma
Some other great summer reads (at least for me):
-Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes - a fun read!
-Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - cute and heartwarming.
-David Copperfield by Charles Dickens - loved this one too, it's along the same line as Little Women
-Great Expectations by Charles Dickens - another fun read, great characters
-Vanity Fair by William Thackeray
Heavier readings would be:
-Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky - very fascinating read.
-Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte - not really as heavy as the others but it is pretty "dark" but has romance and drama
-Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe - very compelling and makes you think
-Paradise Lost by John Milton - another interesting read, but it is a lot harder to go through.
Hope you'll find a good and fun book to read!

When I was a kid it was a toss up between the novel of Star Wars and White Fang by Jack London.White Fang is a wonderful nature story told from the animals point of view.
Now I mostly read non fiction.
