Lara should've been punished. Mahela Jayawardene knocked out the stumps at the non-strikers end in frustration when playing against England, and he was charged 20% of his match fees. He did not act disrespectfully to the umpires or the players and yet he was punished. Lara aggressively took the ball away from the umpire and was seen yelling and wasting time. He should be punished for that, especially because Sehwag was fined for excessive appealing in the same match.

I think if Lara didn't waste those 15 minutes India would've possibly had enough time on the last day to win the match.

It was very wrong on the part of the match refree Jeff Crowe not to punish Brian Lara for that kind of behaviour which not acceptable. The decison of the umpire should be respected irrespective of the match situation. The time which was lost also cost India the first test match. This shows taht racism still exists in the sports feild. An asian player would have been punished severly. It also shows that some players are bigger than the game which have made them. It's a shame for ICC.The spirit of the game is hampered by this incident.

Lara Should have been punished for disrespecting the umpire by snatching the ball from his hand and waisting all that time..

I mean comon Sehwag was punished just because he celebrated the wicket of Dave Bravo and Lara was not punished for all the shi*t he did...

Lara is anyday bigger than Sehwag.
Let Sehwag reach that level of cricket
When Sehwag reaches that level, and does similar acts
of over appealing, no umpire would ever dare to fine him.
I wish that day comes faster in Sehwags' career.
Let us not waste our time on this issue as we cannot
air our comments and feelings to undo, whatever has happened.

i think that lara was aggressive towards dhoni in test match b'coz he has hit 3 consecutive sixes against mohammad.his six sixes has obstruct the whole windies but if u see replay ganga's feet was on the boundary line.firstly, umpire give it a six but lara said to umpires that send dhoni to pavilion, for 15 minutes this drama is going on.lara says to dhoni that i take full charges of my player so rahul dravid called them back to pavilion b'coz they have declare it.when they go to pavilion umpires give out to dhoni but how a cameraman cant give us a photograph of these????????

No Not at all. It was fault of umpires on ground who did not take any decision for long time.Instead they consulted with players.
Laras point is right.Player should respect and beleive the player of opposition.Dhoni did not beleieve what ganga said.It is against the spirit of the game more than on rules
