Blackpool. Went there for a wedding and it was awful. It is the worst place I have ever visited.

There are very few places which don't have some saving grace. I was once staying near Birmingham at the time they were building the Bullring. I went into town by bus to see the city but I felt so disoriented by the different levels of roads and paths with no apparent relationship to the ground, that I felt my head spinning. I vowed I would never go there again, yet I did go there again last year. It seemed to have a little more normality about it but I still felt that it had no soul and no beauty. I am not tempted to go back.

Tunis. Went there a few years back and had a very large chunk of masonary fall from roof height to six feet in front of me. Rotten shots, I think.

Eilat in Israel.

I felt unwelcome from before we even got on the plane - even to the point where they asked me why I wanted to go to Israel anyway when I'm not jewish.... I said "You're the ones who've been advertising it as a winter sun destination - why do you think I want to go to Eilat rather than be in London in January??!"

New York.

Been there for 11 days, robbed twice, one time almost murdered. that was enough for me. Maybe i'll ever visit America again, but for sure never New York again.
