i know...when i saw that picture of that sweet japanese kid, i actually wondered the same.

would be cool to tie my both shoes at the same time.....to be able to eat and use the remote-control at the same time...or to get dressed and pick my nose at the same time...

uff so much more option with three hands. and i'm not even talking about how happy my girlfriend would be when i could hugg her with 3 arms (although she told me she prefers 2 tongues above 3 arms). but still, it would be very usefull to have 3 arms, i fully agree.

now i'm gonna shave and brush my teeth. uff, imagine the time i could win only on that if i had 3 arms.

As in evolutionary history no ancestor of ours had 3 arms, presumably as no mutations existed to be selected for. This is because humans are bilateral organisms and our bodies are symmetrical along the spinal cord, so 3 arms wouldn't be possible, but 4 would. Unless the 3rd arm was in the centre of our back/ chest but then it would interfere with our organs/ ribcage and be disadvantageous.
It may be possible though with genetic modification as limb development is due to relative concentration of a substance (Shh) which could be artificially elevated.

You don't have three arms because your ancestors didn't have three arms.

You have evolved from organisms that had two arms, and they in turn evolved from organisms that had two forelegs which became arms.

There is no structure frmo which a third arm could readily evolve and no pressure for such an appendage to evolve.

Genetics/DNA/deoxyribonucleic acid/etc...; if you want a third arm, try mutating yourself, heck, you might even get the beginnings of a second head popping out as a bonus.

Because in your DNA and genetics a gene for a third arm or something like that is supressed because of evolution and all that fun stuff...

The little Japanese baby is getting the third arm removed and you want it.

It's a disability given to us humans so that we shall not think of ourselves as being too much better than the apes, who are able to use all four limbs.
