Yes, they are. However, it all depends on your definition of "is". Lol, seriously though, it does depend on your definition of "sex". I've read numerous articles that say teens (young and older) have oral sex and anal sex and don't consider it "sex". They also experiment with gay sex since they don't consider it sex either.

Shows you what a wonderful job the current crop of parents is doing, huh?

I was just having a similar conversation with a friend yesterday. We were talking about the teen mags we used to read, how they were full of stories, innocence, and now you pick one up and inside it's all about how to attract a boy, how to dress to attract a boy, what to do if you're period is late and these magazines are designed in many cases for eight year olds. Even clothes on sale for these little girls are more provocative than anything we ever had, so it seems that society is almost encouraging them to grow up faster and participate in sex at an earlier age.
We still had dolls at eleven and twelve, Sindy and Barbie's, I only knew of one girl my age at school who became pregnant at 15 and she was considered a rarity and it was very much frowned upon.
I'm not saying we should bring back those days when girls who became pregnant were treated appallingly, but I do think it's a serious issue that needs to be looked at. Childhood is so short as it is without them becoming parents before they're even teenagers

When i was around 10-12 i was still playing w/ dolls, and i am now 15 and i'm still a virgin and very proud i still have it! I know what you mean, alot of girls, not even teens yet are having sex because they see it on TV, their friends/sisters/parents are doing it so they think they have to, or they just want 2 do it. i think it is really sad that they're just throwing their lives away like that.

It is a culture shock in America to see this. But is isn't that uncommon in other areas of the world. Such as Africa. In many tribal communities, young children at age five and six play house and things like that. It is seen as helping them understand and develop. In the older America it was different too. Now a days people are waiting to get married until they are thirty or older. Not even a hundred years ago, if you were unwed at twenty, you was a minster. People was getting married at thirteen and fourteen

It's not just you, the age that boys and girls are losing their virginity and/or becoming sexual active is getting younger and younger for some reason and I personally think it is a big problem that our society should do something about. These girls who aren't even high school age yet have most likely not reached puberty and their bodies aren't even developed. They aren't even old enough to understand their bodies, let alone have sex. Not to mention at that age, they can't emotionally understand the meaning of sex and aren't emoitionally ready for everything sex entails. Don't get me started, I could write an essay on the subject...

Unfortunately it is not you. Statistics show that teenage sex is going down but I wish I could see it!!! Or maybe it is going down in older teens but up in younger children. I do not know...but it scares me!!!

Let me tell you this story. I work with children. So at work I have this nine year old little boy who is adorable, funny, and kind of the "class clown" that likes to have the attention on him. There is a seven year old girl who thinks she is grown (yes I realize they all do but I mean even more so then normal) and thinks she is the center of the world and the most gorgeous thing ever-the best way I can explain her attitude is like a conceited sixteen year old caught in a seven year olds body. Then you have my six year old who also thinks she is grown but is respectful. She is very much a leader and outgoing.
I have to admit that I was in denial about this before but for a couple months now my co-workers have been telling me that this seven year old girl is causing trouble because she likes this little boy...but the little boy likes my six year old...and then they told me that my six year old doesnt care anyway she isnt above the mindframe of friends (thank GOD). Now before I was like nawwww they are just playing. Yeah they are not just playing this seven year old is taking this very seriously. I realized that more then ever last night.
So last night I walk onto the play area where they are playing and one of the other little boys runs up to me and says they are fighting so I go over there. Well they are not fighting but the seven year old was threatening to punch my six year old. I find out that they were pulling the nine year old back and forth. Now my six year old thought they were just playing a human game of tug of war (she is really that not interested LOL) the seven year old says she was trying to get him for herself.

Now why a seven year old really is willing to beat up a six year old over a boy I do not know. It is a sad sad world!!! I am just glad that so far my six year old is naive to those things and can only hope it continues.

I never did play with dolls; I thought they were very boring. That doesn't mean I'm pregnant. I understand what you mean though; alot of my friends are pregnant too and it's rather disturbing. But no I don't think girls play with dolls much anymore; not after they're 7 years old anyway.

I do believe that more kids are being exposed to sexuality through mainstream culture, but I also believe that most don't understand it in the same way an adult would.

I have to comment about this question and some of those who answered. This young lady asked a legitimate question, and most people responded with thoughtful answers. Three people, however, chose to directly insult her. COMPLETELY UNFAIR. I have reported all three of these responses as abuse; this is not the forum for that kind of senseless behavior.

I know it's sad. And no one thinks to talk to them about sex until there teens. And by then its too late. Kids don't act like kids anymore. They should be playing with dolls more than they worry about their looks. And they should be having sleepovers and playing games instead of talking on the phone about guys all day. It's up to us who see it happening to stop it and I'm really trying in my area.

You can tell from this site. There are girls that don't even know how to spell, yet they are asking questions about the "O" word, popping of cherries and pregnancy. The more I see this, the more I worry because my daughter is getting to that age. I do think it is the parents responsibility to provide answers and guidance for these girls before they get it somewhere else...like online.
