On Jimmy Kimmel Live, why does he apologize to Matt Damon at the end of every show?

There's some kind of gag where Jimmy was supposed to have Matt Damon on the show but they kept picking other people over him for different dates or dates Matt couldn't make. I THINK!!!! It's something to that effect.
