I've looked on many sites and they give different numbers ranging from 40-80....

Not fully documented but at the last count there were more than 80 species of whales, dolphins and porpoises.

Not sure on whales, but there are 25 dolphin species.

it depends on your definition: there are over 80 species of cetaceans (includes all baleen whales, dolphins porpoises, etc.). if you want to know just baleen whales:~13; toothed whales: ~70
