put them in a pillow case then in the washing machine Ive done it loads of times on a low temperature they will b fine

If you dont want to put them in the washing machine, what's worked well for me is using a good scrubbing brush with some detergent or soap on it and just enough water. Then, after you scrub them, set them out in the sun to dry (especially if they are a light color, cuz this will make them brighter).

Well I'd just get some laundry spray that gets out stains and spray and wash them down.
I have tennis shoes that I through right in the washer! It makes them cleaner than I could get them, and its easier on me!

I fill the kitchen sink with warm water and Oxy clean then just let the shoes soak over night, rinse in cool clean water and let them dry outside. I clean my espadrilles and Reef flip flops this way.

Spot clean with oxyclean or simple green. Use a nail brush or tooth brush to really concentrate on tough areas.
