Please only answer if you truly know the answer. I know that it is suggested to wait two years... I'm wondering about physical possibilities.

Thanks for all the answers guys... I was curious... and a little worried... :( I was very sick through most of my pregnancy had to have my daughter induced and then got preeclampsia to top of my high blood pressure a few days after giving birth. I was worried these things might come back quickly if I were to get pregnant again too soon. I do want another child but I do plan to wait unless I've already made a different choice. Again thanks for all your answers... I still saw some folk tales though in the answers ;)

I know of women that have gotten pregnant right away after having their baby. Irish twins are what they are called. Only 10 months apart. But they say it takes up to 4 years for your body to go completely back to normal after having a baby. I waited 5 years between my 1st and 2nd (I was 17 when I had my first and 22 when I had my 2nd) And my son is now 23 months old and im almost 5 months pregnant.

They say two years so that your body can go back to normal. My son is 13 months and I'm 3 months pregnant. You show almost immediately after you've had kids but you tend to jump into maternity clothes within like two weeks! Also, you cramp a lot more and it's more painful. The symptoms tend to be more severe (morning sickness, dizziness, etc). But to be honest, I'll take the bad because I couldn't be happier about giving my son a little brother or sister!

Physically......you could get pregnant with in 6 weeks. Unless there is something that went on during delivery that has caused your uterus to not contract back down to normal size and this would mean a fetus would not survive intrauterine.

Hope I gave you some insight.

My children are 14 months apart, and other than severe morning sickness with both of them I was fine. The hardest part that I found was taking care of a baby while dealing with the exhaution of being pregnant, that really takes it out of you. But they are 1 and 2 now and the best of friends, so it worked out well for us, but it is not for everyone.

As soon as you have your first period and ovulate. Generally several weeks after delivering your baby. If you're breastfeeding, you more than likely won't ovulate (it's a hormonal thing) but some women do, and can get pregnant.

Physically you can get pregnant right away and are more likely to if you don't wait the recommended six weeks before having sex.

you can get pg right away, but is your question when should you? you are right they say 2 years, but I would think even a year is ok, as long as you are healthy. this will give you time to recoup and the baby some time to be a baby. congrats on your baby!
