Whlie it may seem hokey, statues or inflable flooting itams work. Find out the natural enemy/preditor of a duck (Owl, Snake, etc...) and get fake immitations of them and place them around the pool. Another trick it to keep the space active, un-natural activity should scare off the ducks and prevent them form wanting to land in the aria.
