Salt, in and of itself, does not speed up healing. Salt will dry out the wound and help keep it clean by absorbing fluids. Once the wound is dry, the body can work more efficiently. If you have a condition that inhibits cellular function ( ie: diabetes ), nothing will speed up the healing process.

Sea salt is good for open wounds. Just add sea salt to warm water and soak the wounded area for 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a day. After you clean the area with a antibacterial soap.

Yes salt helps... alot actually however may I suggest another remedy please... it may hurt alittle and only do this on the out side of your body.... Never ever drink it... lol stating the obvious but some people you never know... any way pouring bleach on a open wound no matter how big or small it is and on the outside of your body lol.... will help it heal alot faster,, and less scarring if any at all... I Have many family members injured on a farm some injuries should of left horrible scarring , Example my aunt put her whole arm through a window while trying to open it.... and it cut her all the way from wrist to elbow. she poured bleach on it,, and wrapped it up tightly and guess what in a few days it healed with no scare. Second example...My uncle put a pitch fork through his brothers thigh accidental mind you.. and they poured bleach on it... no scarring and healed wonderfully..... so try it it stings like a you know what but if you can handle the pain.. I am telling you its a remedied we still use in this family.......

I had cracked hands palms and finger, went to doctor, nothing helped, then i heard about Using a teaspoon of salt directly on wet hands and rib rub rub, It gets rid of the dry old peeling skin and also helps healing.. 3 weeks twice a day, Bam, problem solved....use it as a pumice, exfoliates the skin and really Heals.

Putting salt on a wound will do more harm than good. Definitely DO NOT try bleach. A good natural treatment for a wound is to apply honey. Some kinds of honey contain natural antibiotics which come from the flowers the honey was made from.

OK I don t know if salt makes it heal faster. BUT I do know it soaks up liquids and I used it on open cuts to soak up the blood but it still clotted to make a scab. I have also noticed that it let s you see the cut a lot better than you could before.

I hear tell that saltwater does. As far as taking a load of salt and rubbing it into your wound. Well....I don't know about the healing process. Unless you're one of those who says..."The reason it hurts is because it's healing".

I myself would stick with antiseptics

the iodine in salt is right....if it is table salt... also the pain as a result of putting it on a wound helps too. ironically pain is nature ways of telling the brain to wake up and do something about it...but don't go poking yourself in the foot to increase arm immune response. (immune response is very localized)

Yes it does because it is a natural anti-biotic (kills germs)

... and the iodine is to prevent goiters, but the salt is what helps with a wound.
