I've been there many times and love it. It isn't a real fancy place or anything like that, but it is still nice. There is lots of great food, entertainment, shows and shopping.
If you go to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge is a short drive away, so you will probably split your time between the two.
Some of my favorite things are going to Ober Gatlinburg in the mountains. Going to some of the locals craft stores, looking around and buying jelly (the best you can find!!! delicious) there is tons of shopping and malls in the area, so you could spend a few days doing that, if you wanted. Sampling some of the different restaurants. The Apple Barn is a really neat place to visit as well. Dollywood and Dixie Stampeded are also fun. Finally, the shows in the area are great as well, my favorite is Louis Mandrell, she puts on an amazing show. Of all the shows in the area, she is definitely me favorite.
Once you get to the area you will see how much there is to do. The streets are just lined with things. You could go without any plan of what you wanted to do and still fill up a weeks time.

Gatlinburg is spectacular! i'm initially a city chick from manhattan yet my chum moved to Tennessee so for me to love this place is asserting something! We went to Gatlinburg for the weekend final August - the excellent Smoky Mountains are amazingly perfect! the individuals are friendly, they have an aquarium and lots of boutiques and shops interior the downtown section. The eating places have been good too. We additionally went to Dollywood - an entertainment park with that southern experience. We had a blast! and that i'm 34! i won't be able to attend to bypass with my husband and son. i'm looking forward to it.

Its a great place to visit. There are tons and tons of things to see and do there. Pigeon Forge which is only a few miles away has many rides and fun parks. The biggest of them is Dollywood which is alot like a six flags or cedar point. Their is a cable car ride through the smokey moutains which is nice. Many great restaurants too. If you like rainbow trout try the Trout House.
