It shouldn't hurt if you put it in correctly. Usually the reason that some people find that it hurts is beause they are tense the first time they try, and that causes the area to tighten. What you need to do is relax. You DO NOT have to wait to have sex to use a tampon. I would give them a try, and if you get scared or tense just hold off trying unitl next month. This may sound stupid to you, but try using a mirror to help guide you the first time you try to use them (and don't expect to get it right the first time so have a few of them handy). I remember that I had to give it a try a few times, but once I was able to insert them correctly it didn't hurt at all. I remember that I didn't even remember I was having my period because it felt like nothing was there. If you can feel it once it is inserted then it isn't in the correct place. I would never use anything else....I also don't miss the odor associated with using pads (even the good ones). I hate to use pads now. Good Luck.

no it doesnt hurt, because the tampon isnt big enough to cause pain. the little diagrams from the instructions on the box really should help, if its your first time. plus if you do insert it correctly, you forget its even there, its cleaner than pads, and it doesnt smell. if you start using them, remember that there is no way for the tampon to get stuck up there, and that it has nothing to do with you being a virgin, common misconceptions. i would still wear a pantyliner if your flow is heavy to keep from accidents.

The very first time it does hurt a little, all you need is practice and make sure you put it in right.

no it is actually more comfortable then just wearing a pad. i use the instructions that came in the package when it came to my first time trying them out. but like the other answer just make sure you are getting the right size cuz if its to big it might be uncomfortable. practice makes perfect

If you put it in crooked it hurts...at least with me. You have to make sure to aim it at the small of your back I believe. (Read the back of the tampoon box; it gives you directions. And don't get panicked if there's warnings...you'll be fine if you stay relaxed and dont' expect it to be painful. Even when it's crooked it's more uncomfortable than painful.

It is uncomfortable if you do not apply it correctly. I prefer tampons vs Pads.

yes and yes - but you just need some practice. It'll be okay and it's a LOT better than the alternative.
