There is one theory that the white god Quetzalcoatl was one of the well known men of Atlantis and that Atlantis sank due to some reasons and that Quetzalcoatl escaped, with some people. That is the reason they described him as a white god probably because the Atlantians were European (a common notion) and were White (fair skinned) than the Aztecs. He is also described as a winged serpent, because (some say) the flight vehiles resembled a serpent and since it could fly they believed it had wings. This was possibly the only way the ancient Aztecs who according to their scriptures were the tribe having least knowldege of the world and were guided by the gods like Quetzalcoatl, could describe a flying object that they saw like a iron bird or serpent-bird.

I think the idea of Atlantis is something so old and shrouded in myth that we'll never know the truth. Plato was the first person to call it "Atlantis" but I'm sure the concept existed before him.
It's been said to be everywhere, including Mexico (my favorite), the Bahamas, Antarctica, Crete, Greenland, the east coast of the United States and probably in my back yard.
Supposedly the people from Atlantis seeded a lot of ancient races, including the Olmecs of Mexico, the Tibetans, Egyptians and more. So probably it's possible some went to South America. But they didn't start the race, just taught it.
Look for legends of people who came from the sea, taught all kinds of advanced concepts and then left again. Viracocha, Quetzalcoatl, Kukulcan, Thoth...all the same person IMHO.

Off the coast of Florida, near the Bermuda Triangle, and yes, the Incas were from Atlantis!

Well, Plato claimed to have visited, but he was pretty free with the truth, as the saying goes. As to its location, given that it is a pretty uniquely Mediterranean story, it was probably somewhere near the Ionian Peninsula. It need not have been too terribly large, since it is described as a perfect city by someone who thought that 2,000 people was a real big army.
As far as the Incas ... no, not likely. Despite Thor Heyerdahl (or however he spelled it, the dang Dane), the sea-going vessels of that era were not terribly ... sea-going, that is. Plus, the Incas are pretty clearly Amerinds, not African or Mediterranean.
But hey, isn't it great that there have been marvelous civilizations developed by several different peoples in several different locations? Sort of a testament to Mankind (capital "M"). Give one hope that we may one day develop a marvelous culture, too, dunt it?

No-one knows where it was because the evidence for Atlantis is non-existent. I think Plato made it all up, he had details of this citadel on an island which are pretty far fetched. Some people say it was the island of Santorini/Thera, Crete, the Canaries, the Azores etc. I think it was supposed to be beyond the strait of Gibraltar ie. just to the west of where Spain nears Africa. Probably lots of cultures have similar stories of lost islands, and Plato was just borrowing from these, because it catches people's imagination.

According to Greek and Egyptian records, Atlantis existed.
According to the same records, Atlatnis was west of the Herculean Piles (today's Giblardar).
Possibly there was communication between them, some 10,000 years ago!
