Skin cancer, the most common of all cancers, is on the rise, and it's showing up with increasing frequency among younger adults. One in five people can expect to get skin cancer at some point in their lives -- either the minor form that can disfigure, or the malignant melanoma. If the malignant form spreads, it's almost always incurable.

Tan booths give you artificial tans without you having to stand under the sun for hours. You'll be asked to enter the booth, close your eyes and stand in front of a faucet. The faucet will airspray a fake tan on your body. After a five second span, you have to turn around so that you can get the same tan sprayed on your back. You can choose what shade of tan you want.
Have fun.

hmmmmm......well, you can expect to get a tan. If you do it correctly. It can be done safely, and it can be done unsafely.....it's all up to you.
The best tans are acquired slowely. Tan salons have rules for your safety....for example you can't tan more than 20 minutes each visit, and you can't visit more often than every 24 hours. Even that is too much. No more than twice a week is best until you get a good base coat, then once a week to keep it up. If you tan any more often that that you end up looking like shoe leather, and your skin ages much more quickly. Only tan during "the season", but if you want to keep it all year, drop down to once a month during off-seasons.
I've been tanning this way for years and I've had no adverse affects. People always tell me I look a lot younger than I really am so I guess it hasn't done me any harm.

If you have never been before you should ask the person helping you how long he/she thinks you should stay in. I tan well, but for the first few times I get in I Only stay in a regular bed for 15 minutes not the full 20 that's allowed. You need a good indoor tanning lotion, make sure the bottle says for indoor tanning... they are usually cheaper at retail stores like Wal-Mart or Target, the salon will try to sell you one, ask if you can buy a sample size or better yet see if they have free samples.

Once in the bed, it will be kind of hot, they usually have fans to cool it off and to get the air circulating. I recommend taking an
I-pod or something to play music with. If you start to feel like you are burning, go ahead and get out. Your tan will start to show up after a few hours. This might be gross, because you might sweet a little, but DON'T take a shower for a least 2-3 hours after you get out. Your tan keeps going or something like that after you get out and you don't want to mess it up after you paid the money to go to a tanning bed.

You should expect to eventually get a tan. And you should aslo expect a good amount of people telling you that you are going to get skin cancer and that it's no good for you. I personally enjoy it and find it relaxing. Last summer I was taking a summer school class and working two jobs so I had no time for the beach so I took up going to the tanning beds and loved it. Still do. It can get pricey, as does the lotion, but if you're a busy person it is worth it.

I have been tanning for about a year its nothing really!!
You go in the tanning place, pay fro however many tans or by month! They will tell u wat tym to start out with (usually 8 min) When u get experienced you can go up to 20 min, no lnger (its illegal) you get in the bed, turn the fans on and the radio (they are assembelled in the bed) and lay down close the bed and enjoy!!!
Its really not that bad but after a while you dread going!! You can only tan 1ce evry 24 hours(its the law!!)

expect to smell bad after you're done- you can sometimes actually smellyour skin burning, it's gross. and if you use indoor tanning lotion.. that usually makes it smell even worse. cover up your eyes- you can actually get an eye disease from not covering them in the tanning bed. and you might want to cover your face if you feel it burning.
