LOL love some of the answers but unless they have been deemed dangerous.. they are usually released into non-populated areas or more times than that put into sanctuary places like Gator Land etc. Some areas welcome gators like Highlands Hammock... they have released gators into the swamps there, then all of the park visitors can enjoy them.
Sometimes if they are deemed dangerous they are put down... the gaotrs that are turned to food for human consumption are eather hunted during gator season OR farm raised. Those are also the ones who's skins are turned into other consumer products.

They kill them since alligators have a strong homing instinct which would bring them back to the same place if they were released.

They take it back to the wild. If it comes back, they take it out and put it into captivity and use it for gator meat and boots and pocketbooks

They take them to a safe place to keep them from wicked ppl who kill them. Or...they bring them to the zoo for viewing, although the zoo is a place of safety.
