In basketball why do they score two points when only one is made? I can understand a three pointer because of the greater distance and more skill ....but two points for one score in close...why is this so?

good question...i think two is a good number though because it isn't too high but it isn't too low.

Why is it 6 points for a touchdown in Football? Why is it 3 points for a field goal in Football? Its 2 points in basketball because you are defended, one point for the free throw because its free.

Because a free throw is worth 1 point. What about in tennis where a point is worth 15? lol

because if it were a point for every shot made then a free throw would give a team only half a point and that would make a scorekeeper's job very frustrating
