I am not saying there is anything wrong with ugly babies, I was an ugly baby myself and as we say in Dutch: lelijk in de luier, mooi in de sluier.
I just find it hard to believe that a new baby apparentely influences the eyesight of the new parents.

well, as we also say in dutch:'Het lijkt wel een gesmolten E.T'

but ur right, never really tell such things to the parents of kids. even if i really saw a lot (and i mean A LOT) of ugly babies in my life.

i once said to a mom that ugly babies are actually the most cute ones. but even that seemed to be wrong to say.

and don't worry too much about the ashtray-thingy..all first ashtrays are usually extremely ugly. my first one looked like Pieter van Vollenhove's right ear...

My great grandmother used to say that every woman thinks her baby is the prettiest, and if she doesn't, there's something wrong with her.

I think everyone thinks their kid is the cutest around, but maybe deep down, somewhere inside, they know their baby isn't really cute, but they can't admit it.

What I find so ironic is that in most cases, when you have two very good looking parents, the kid is usually ugly. Has anyone else noticed that?

First of all, an ash tray and a child are in no way comparable...If you have a child you will understand. A parents love for their baby has nothing to do with the way it looks. And, no I dont think any parent thinks theyre children are "ugly". Its part of nature. No matter what a parent says, they always think theyre children are better looking than anyone elses. Even if they wont admit it.

I think the parent would know that their child was not going to be a super model when they grow up...but you would still love a nurture and find adorable the one you cared for on a daily basis. Baby find a special place in your heart no matter what.

No baby is ugly. You remember the oft quoted saying; beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Your conditioned mind sets the contours and colours that constitute so called beauty. Otherwise, complexion is skin deep and inherent intelligence is also a determinant in world beauty-contests. For every child his or her mother is the most beautiful, as much as for every parent his or her child is the most loving. I reiterate, no child can be ugly in the world.

Parents can't see that their child is ugly as they created the baby and in their eyes the child is perfect.

babies are not ugly . each and everyone of them are unique in there own way. I have four children and to me all four were the most beautiful babies i have ever seen and I don't know a parent that doesnt think that way.

Parents tend to see their baby objectively, then paint on a veneer of loving beauty. And why not? Shouldn't every parent think his/her child is beautiful?

If you were an ugly baby, why not just ask your parents?
