Sometimes before wheel of fortunes are finished some really gross opening scene for a crime or doctor show comes on the screen. I'm not even prepared and my kids see stuff before I have a chance to change the channel. This happens all the time on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX. I remember they saved that stuff for ten o'clock before. My kids are not in bed at eight o'clock.

I don't want them to be able to watch t.v., I'm pissed that they have to accidentally see that crap before i even know it's there.

Unfortunately, television has become a way of life in America. I limit most of my children's tv watching to Nickelodeon and Disney. They have some pretty good series on those channels. I DVR the shows that I want to watch so that I can pause them if necessary or watch them at a different time of day. It costs me money to have the DVR, but trust me when I tell you it is worth it.

As a parent, I can appreciate some of what you are saying.
We don't watch a lot of television and if the boob-tube is on, its tuned to either a PBS station, a religious station or we're playing a children's VHS/DVD.

Regarding the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX), I don't know what you mean by "adult t.v.".
Are they showing nudity and using profanity?
Does this start at 7p.m. (or, whenever Wheel of Fortune is over)?
If so, that is a concern and you should write to the networks and voice your concern.
You should also contact the Federal Communication Commission and voice the same message.

At the very least, you cannot say that you are no longer unaware of what kinda stuff oozes out of the tube.
Assuming you have a relatively new TV with channel-blocking & timing features, you can program it to either block those channels or turn off at a given time.

Unfortunately we are living in a time where morals are very low in todays society. Most people don't care and the TV stations are all about the ratings. They don't care who watches as long as the ratings are good for them. My advice to you is to find some activities that you can get your children involved with and try to find things to do as a family that will take more of your time away from the television. You would be surprised how much children can enjoy the board games that the children from days past have enjoyed before TV became a BIG issue.
