i got a score around 1610 on the new SAT, what does that equal? is that good, bad, average? i was told it was really good by some, and average by others

The score report that College Board sent you should tell you what percentile your score falls into. The higher your percentile, the fewer people who scored higher than you did (so the better the score is considered). 50th percentile is considered average, with half the people scoring above 50%tile and half scoring below 50%tile.

There are 3 sections on the SAT w/ a max of 800 per section. Average in any one section is typically around 500, so average for the whole test is about 1500 (500 x 3). 1610 is a little above average... a respectable score, but not mind-blowingly high like a 2300-2400 would be.

I was told that the average was 1580 when I took my test June 3rd.

I checked my scores and the average critical reading score is 508.
Average math is 520.
Writing percentiles not figured out yet.
