I've updated 3 times in the past 2 and a half years...
Started out with....
Dual 1.42 GHz PowerMac G4 (Mirrored front)
2 x 120 GB Hard drives
1 GB RAM
Mac OX 10.2
Good computer, but I made the mistake of buying the extended warrenty, and a simple bad audio connecition that I could have replaced myself had to be handled by the "professionals" They never could get the part, so offered me a new computer as an option...
Dual 1.8 GHz PowerMac G5
80 GB (not enough)
768 MB RAM (not enough)
64 MB VRAM
Mac OS 10.3
My old 120 GB Hard drive connected up differently in this newly designed machine, so I had to use it externally. Not enough RAM, and Weighed a TON. Found myself lugging the 45 pound tower, 35 pound moniter among other things, making it a multiple trip to the car and over 100 pound headache, so I sold it and bought the 5.6 lb....
15.4" MacBook Pro
2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo
2 GB RAM
256 MB VRAM
100 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
Mac OS 10.4
This Machine is the pretty good. It's light, I actually have an Apple Moniter now, Plenty of RAM. I installed Final Cut Studio, which took up about one third of my Hard Drive, and I have only about 20 GB available for videos, so I am forced to use an external Hard drive for editing. But it is very portable, and I am really enjoying it.

I'm a bit embarassed to say this but I'm using a Power Mac 7500 (running at a whopping 100 mghtz!). Its the only computer I've ever owned. I bought it about 8 years ago and for Internet purposes, it does fine. I'm going to upgrade soon but I need to see what Apple has in store ... if I should buy now or wait.

It easily relies upon on your budget and what you decide directly to do with it. once you're purely seeking to browse the information superhighway, watch some video clips, and consider some eBooks then i might get an iPad. in case you decide directly to play some easily video games, frequently write essays for college, and greater extensive use then i might get a working laptop or workstation. pills like the iPad at the instant are not workstation replacements, yet. they are very constrained in what they are in a position to do, and haven't any actual keyboard which will make it complicated to form for long sessions of time. in case you wanted a style of blend between a working laptop or workstation and a pill, i might exceedingly recommend the ASUS best which will come out in some days. It has the processing technique of a working laptop or workstation with its Quad middle processor (two times as many an and iPad2 or 4 circumstances as an iPad1), it runs the latest version of Android which will make issues slightly greater trouble-free once you're a pupil because of the fact it facilitates you to connect documents to emails, browse documents like on a working laptop or workstation, and upload documents like a working laptop or workstation (I even have many circumstances uploaded a final minute essay or homework project to my college's on line "dropbox" utilising my Android telephone which i could no longer do with my iPhone 4S) and right here comes the workstation blend, it has an elective keyboard dock which will fold up and make it appear like a working laptop or workstation. The keyboard dock will additionally upload approximately 6 hours of battery existence making it approximately 18 hours total. and because this may well be a pill, it is going to be very very gentle and skinny. And, you're able to desire to get rid of the keyboard in case you ever purely wanted to apply the pill itself. i might take a verify out it in case you wanted a compromise.
