Most puffers will eat differant frozen foods that you can buy at your local petstore, brineshrimp, bloodworms, krill. But due to the fact that puffers have rabbit like teeth, and usually consume a great deal of crustaetions out in there natural enviroment for dietary purpose and to keep teeth filed down. I recomend having a seperate tank to house a few mystery or apple snails. Although these snails are sexually dimorphic they prefer to have a mate to breed. They like to build egg nest just above the water level, and as the baby snails hatch they drop into the water. For a proper tank set up i would leave several inches at the top of the tank open for snail breeding and purchase a few aquatic plants for the adult and baby snails to eat. As the snails breed just rotate baby snails into your puffer tank, this will help the puffers teeth and diet.

They eat all sorts of prey, but they need snails to keep their teeth in check. I keep a small 5G tank to breed the snails.

Cheers

We have puffer fish and we feed them Shrimp Brine. We were feeding them regular fish flakes and we found out we were starving them.
