I usually run the car with the defroster on full blast for a few minutes. Alternatively, depending on how cold it is, you can use water to melt the ice. That works well in Florida where if it freezes it is usually in the 20s at the coldest. Never use your windshield wipers on ice as it will damage the blades.

Use the car's defrost bottom while car is running with the fan blowing then use a scraper plastic of course to remove the ice

get a casette tape still in the plastic and use it, works really well
