so focused on garbage trucks. How they work? Talks all day about garbage trucks waits by window for garbage truck on garbage day. Any garbage takes to can or recycle bin. Need a start in researching this. Is this good or bad or just a phase should we be concerned? Already talks about being a garbage man.

At that age, my younger son was fascinated with cement trucks. He would count the number of cement trucks he saw while we were driving around. It was hilarious! We'd get home and he'd say "Mommy! I saw 7 cement trucks on the way home!" Then he'd tell me what they all looked like.

My opinion is that kids see things that interest them, and sometimes they won't "let go" of it until they understand every little detail about it. A week from now it'll be something else.

It might be more of the mechanics of the truck. My son likes to watch garbage trucks too, there are so many different parts to it and he wants to know how it works. Kids do go through phases, but these phases do somewhat predict what their interest will be when they grow up.

I wouldn't worry about it. He just thinks it's fascinating, that's all. My nephew is intrigued by the weather, so he is the same way with the weather channel and Jerry Taft. (a weather man) It's a constant thing with him, too. I kinda wish my kids were so focused on something besides arguing with each other, so much, ya know? Don't worry too much about it until he dives head first into the garbage truck!

There's no reason to be concerned. He's just fascinated, nothing more. It's good that he's found something he's really into. It is just a phase, and more than likely it won't take him very long to get out of it.

I don't see this as being a problem. Be happy that he is so intrigued with the world around him.

My husband (according to his mother) did the exact same thing when he was a child. He turned out quite well :-)

That is just something kids do. My son wanted to be cop when he was that age. It's just a kid thing. My daugther from the age of three wanted to be a dr. instead of reg reading book she wanted med. books, So we got them for her. She is now 14 and still read's them and still want's to be a dr. So it's a good thing.

That's cute! Someday when he's an engineer or something, you can give him a hard time about it!
