cone flowers...come in many colors and once established can get by on occasional watering plus they come back bigger and better every year...i have 20+ plus a bunch of seedlings coming up and the temps here in kentucky can get in excess of 95 degrees for days and weeks at a time along with high humidity....also yuccas do good once established

google heat tolerant perennials and you will find quite a few specifically for your area

have a cone flower that was a seedling last yr and this year it is almost 4 1/2 ft tall and the rest are about 2 1/2 ft - 3 ft tall..dont know why this one is so much taller than the rest...it is in clay ground on a bank with full sun and i have done nothing to it this yr except weedeat around it

Yes it depends where you are at. Do you get a freeze etc. I live in FL now, mexican petunia's do well. Also Vinca's, Vinca's will survive in a warm climate year round but will not survive cold weather. Google it would be a good way. Also many of the Home Depot, Lowes site have gardening info for your particular climate.

Achillea (yarrow)
Agapanthus (lily of the nile)
Babiana (baboon flower)
desert marigold
Coreopsis (one of my favs)
Dasylirion wheeleri ( desert spoon)
bearded iris
Kniphofia (red hot pocker)
evening primrose
Liatris (gayfeather) dainty but hardy
Pennistum (bearded tongue)
lambs ears
mexican sunflower
Zinnia
Roses do well when established...in general anything with a thorn does well in heat
