I've experienced depression on two different occassions. I've been prescribed medication, which honestly, only made things worse. All medicine did was supress my feelings for a while, but the problems never went away. The most useful advise I can give you regardless of your religious background, is to pray and pray hard. Just ask God for the answer, and he will give it to you. Pray for the strength to make yourself better, then do whatever it takes to THINK yourself better. Everything is mind over matter no matter how you look at things. Nothing is worth being depressed over, life is too short, so enjoy it while you can...Good luck overcoming this illness, and I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers.

it's good to talk to someone whom you can trust about the things that are making you feel depressed, and drag yourself out and do stuff that you like to do eg. work out in the gym, shopping, watch movies. Better still, go out with your friend(s). It'll help if you see a doctor. He/she may be able to help you with medication to make you feel relax. Whethe or not you're religious, praying will help you to calm yourself down. Whatever it is that may be bothering you, just remember that if God takes you to it, He'll get you through it.

Go outside and exercise. Both sunshine and exercise tend to help release serotonin to help you feel better.
