Ok you heard all the others now you can get the right answer. Make sure no water standing-like they said. But, you need to get a 50 lb bag of WHITE lime. Dust it over your yard late in the evening--so when the dew falls it will stick. Do this every time right after you mow for best results.
WORKS better than any insecticide.

If you have standing water somewhere (old tires, old barrels anything that holds water) get rid of it. If it is a fountain or something you want to keep put a couple goldfish in it.
That will stop mosquito's from breeding or if they do the fish will eat the larvae.
Prevention is easier then getting rid of the adults but if you can't do that then get the butane carbon dioxide trap. Mosquito's are attracted to animals and people by the carbon dioxide we exhale. This device generates carbon dioxide and then sucks the mosquito's into a trap that kills then.
You will find the traps at outdoor centers. Our local Sam's club sells them.

If your sitting outside on your deck or something just use an ocillating fan.
Traps kill them but also attract them.
I sometimes use a fogger to temporarily chase them off.
Malathion Still works great for me. I spray my bushes and grassy areas where I'll be hanging out.
Long sleeves long pants.
Deet still works good as a repellant. The strong stuff not that 5-5% junk.

The single biggest thing you can do is to make sure there is no standing water around your yard. That's where they breed. If you're still having trouble, check with a local wildlife office. They should be able to either help you or point you in the right direction.

I know what you mean ! I've read that they have actually evolved
to the point that nothing really works this year. They are larger and much "meaner" than in previous years. We have been deligent about making sure there aren't places that "collect" any amounts of water. They can lay their eggs in as little as a cap of water. I guess all I can suggest is what we do..... good luck.

Ok, so with this answer you will see my tree hugin' hippie side but it's worth a try. Do you have bats? Hang bat houses to entice them. Plant citronella plants. Keep standing water away from your home. This one is going to sound crazy but tuck a fabric softener dryer sheet into your pocket, they hate that for some reason. That's the best I got... Hope it help!

my parents have planted "penny royal" which works wonders. another thing they burn is basically anything that contains citronella oil.
it worked for us on a farm with wetlands 500m away from the house in the rainy season in south Africa.
i am sure that it could work almost anywhere else.

our neighbors bought this butane "thing", I'm not even sure what it is, but it's supposed to be the best (I believe he bought it at home depot or lowes, ask one of their sales people)
i still get bit LOL
i don't really think there's much you can do, other than remove any standing water, and hope it's windy
best of luck!

Do you have any water standing on or near your property. If you do, get rid of it.
