Cosaxteacher has a point, there is such technology and it is being used heavily in the Middle East, but that doesn't mean it won't be a problem. The water extracted with this technology is very expensive, which means eventually the majority in any affected nations will be denied water more than usual, which will be the excuse for fighting. And, yes, as fresh water becomes more scarce especially in the developing world, it will become a reason for fighting. Then, some damned do-gooder will get us involved in a fight that DOESN'T affect our national interests.
