If you are referring to the technical differences, the answer is: you will not pass the building code inspection for that portion of the additon or home, whatever you are building. Inspectors check inside the blue boxes to make sure the wire is the proper guage and that it is cut to the proper lengh and fits in the box correctly. In most areas of the country you are supposed to have a building permit to do this work anyway.
