An Ox has been castrated a Bull has not. (Comparable to a gelding and a Stallion, in equine terms)

I don't know for sure, but Oxes are supposed to be more tractable and easier to handle.

You'll never see a bull intentionally hitched to the front of a cart or a wagon. Too ornery.

A bull has balls and an Ox had balls.

It does seem that oxen are castrated and used to pull carts and such.
