Depending on where you get it....I have one on my back and it didn't hurt half as bad as the one on my ankle. It's not an excrusiating pain, that will make you cry or anything,,,it's more of an aggravating sort of pain that makes you grit your teeth a little. It's not that bad at all

This is what I have to say about tattoos. Honey, you can get Hepatitis C from it. It is the most rampant cause of cirrhosis of the liver. There is a treatment for Hepatitis C, but only 50% of those infected will respond to given treatment; the rest get liver disease and die. I also just got my blood drawn yesterday to see if I have Hepatitis C. You see we just found out 4 days ago that my husband has it and that I could also have it because I have slept with him. It's no small matter. I'm sitting here scared wondering what the results will be. I hope my test results come back negative. Please pray for me. I also hope for your sake that you choose not to get the tattoo; it's just not worth it. :(

Additional Note: A lot of people say it's fine if you get it done at a sanitary professional place. What they don't tell you is it doesn't matter how sanitary it is because part of the ink that is used goes back into the ink vials. To show you what I mean...imagine drinking out of a straw. Part of the liquid in the straw goes back into the glass when you are finished. It may be a very small amount; however, it is the same concept with the clean needles and ink vials when people get tattoos. Once you get Hepatitis C you have to get interferon shots 3 times a week for 6-18 months and there is no guarantee that it will work or that you won't relapse. I sure hope my test comes back negative. I will just hate it if it doesn't, and it's so sad that my husband has this. We have an appointment set up with his doctor in a couple weeks to go over his treatment plan. I think people that get tattoos are crazy!!!!

Some places hurt, and others don't as much or at all. For example, a tattoo on your inner forearm will hurt, but a tattoo on your lower back won't hurt as much. The pain is pain, but is not as bad as you are probably thinking. It is a consistant stinging sensation, but it usually is not a searing pain. Be careful though, because sometimes when the artist will hit a sensitive spot and it will be uncomfortable. All in all, tattoos will hurt. They will hurt wherever you get them, but it is not a horrible degree of pain. You will be fine, and you will be so proud of yourself when you see your tattoo and know you had the courage to do it. Best of luck :)

Well considering I have over 23 hours of work on my back I think I can honestly say...yes tattoos hurt. But it depends on the size and placement. The more flesh (fat, muscle) the less pain. Like when my artist is going over my shoulder blades or spine it hurts more. Because there is only skin over the bone itself. And I have a fairly large area that is essence a open wound for a few days until it heals. But for me the 2 day hurts worse than when he is actually doing that tattoo itself. My advice: Take some over the counter pain meds 20 min prior to getting your ink work done and you will hardly feel it.

Tattoos really depend on a few things. It depends on how sensitive your skin is, where the tattoo is, and how large it is. on areas like your forearm, shoulder (back part) and thighs, the pain is fairly manageable. For places like the spine, the neck, ankle, or feet, the pain may be more intense. Look at it this way, the more bone you see, the more it may be uncomfortable for you.
On another note, the outline for me was more intense than the color. This is why. When they do the outline, it is one single thick needle. When they do the colors, it is made from a bundle of smaller needles, therefore covering more surface, and causing less pain. The color feels like...say a burning itch.
Hope I helped!

Yes and no. It depends on the location of the tattoo. I have 3 and the feeling for all 3 were different. The 1st one felt irritating, the 2nd one I laughed the entire time and last one HURT!!
YEOUCH!!

Depends on where you get it. If it is a fatty part, it will be less painful. Take a saftey pin and tap it to your skin where you think you are getting the tattoo. That is pretty much what it feels like. a word of wisdom, get it where it isn't too noticeable, like if you were to go on a job interview. ie ankle, arms, legs, neck. Employers may not hire you with tattoos.

depends on your level of pain. some places generally are more painful than others i.e. ur back, down by your ankle; where as your upper arm or ur stomach isn't so bad. The part that hurt the most was the next day, it was SORE, but I put the aftercare lotion on and within a few days it was healing real well.

It stings a bit. Not as much as people would have you believe, but it also depends on where you get it. If you get larger ones it will start to hurt more as it goes on because your natural release of endorphins will wear off.
