If it makes you feel any better, it's probably not just in this forum that they act that way. In regular conversations they probably throw in one-liners just to hear their own voices. Makes them feel important.

And WHY people are just trying to rack up points I'll never know....it's not like they can trade them for anything. My opinion is if you can't answer the question, don't try. And if ALL you have to say is something stupid, don't say anything at all.

Amen. Some people DO answer just for the points, and some post stuff that's not even remotely related to the question being asked. Others are rude and vulgar. Some people post "questions" that aren't questions at all, some people post questions that make no sense whatsoever, and some people post hateful, racist, or pornographic "questions" because they are bored and can't find the front door to go outside and do something constructive with their time.

Yahoo had a great idea by allowing users to ask and answer questions - there are a lot of people out there with a lot of information and a willingness to help others. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there with a lot of issues and a willingness to post their ignorance for the world to see.

The nice thing about the internet is that anybody can use it. The bad thing about the internet is that anybody can use it.

Well because this website, by awarding points, is a great big competition. The most points, the highest level, the best answers in this category; people can't help but compete. Some, I must admit, get the true enjoyment of helping people they provide true answer for...the nest time you ask a question and you see a blank answerer, then you know their purpose (look at their points). Now, I know their is suppose to be no such thing as a stupid question but...some of them I think are posted so that these people can just get points off of them.

It's a game. I looked at the "leader's board," and couldn't believe the thousands and thousands of points some people have accumulated. Does this make the words "Get a Life" pop into your head? PS: And a lot of those "just for the points" answers are pretty mean spirited.

If something is a legitimate question, I will be happy to give a legitimate answer. But for some of the stupid, stupid things that people put on here, yeah, I'm just getting the two points.

Could be that Y!A is a microcosm of life. How many people have you met are going through life just to get their "2 points" and don't really contribute anything to society?

Dear Mr. Joke Fr:

Most men are into competition, that's why. Getting two points is like, "scoring."

As for women, it takes more effort to get the points, to really contribute to this forum. It is just nature, I suppose.

Yeah it is annoying isn't it?

They just try to do this to quickly rise the YA ladder. To bad they don't realize that spending a little time with give them 10 points.

Too bad we can't complain, though. Technically, they aren't doing anything wrong. They just aren't being helpful.
