I will be attending the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park and want something close by, but i'm on a budget. Help!

I've always been happy with priceline. chose the option where you name your price, it's the best deal. Pick the area, pick the star level, and start LOW, no matter what they tell you. You will be tied up if your price is accepted, but they don't lie either about the neighborhood nor the amenities.

If you're on a budget and want to be close by to the Taste of Chicago, there's only one place to stay: the Hostel International Chicago. It's located only steps away from where the Taste is being held. It's cheap ($31 a night), safe and in the middle of downtown. If you know about hostels, you know that you should expect no-frills acommodations. I stayed in one when I went to London and it was fine. If you're coming with a group of friends, I believe they offer discounts for groups. The people that stay there come from all over the world and are from all age groups. Check it out.

try the suburbs. lots of the suburbs have Metra trains that go instantly into downtown close to provide Park. there is probable to be more cost-effective motel rooms in places like Naperville, Aurora, Hinsdale, Skokie, etc.
