All those armchair generals and "liberal haters" may just grow a brain cell or two...guess with the new "section 10" even the Bush daughters might see a little camoflauge in their ensemble.

This one is especially scary because it may just have a chance to make it out of committee. Recruitment and retention fell short this year of 38,000 troops and that is WITH scraping the bottom of the barrel, allowing an 18 score on the ASVAB and allowing Downe's syndrome and autistic soldiers in the ranks.

Definitely not the same army I was in, LOL.

Raybuckdave,
That's not exactly true. Perhaps you should look up what "stop loss" means. I know I didn't spend 18 extra months in the Army with another spin down-range without a contract for my health and good looks.

JRS, a few details. First, the recruiting for 2005 FOR THE WHOLE MILITARY was indeed 38,000 short (for the Army it was 7000, and that is allowing 22 on the ASVAB). If you will look at the numbers you will notice that they have lowered the bar on recruiting goals for this year, and when you count the fact that every year the first months see many deferments from the previous year when they continuously lower the standards, I still stand by the recruiting shortfall remark. Add to this the fact that discharges for standard things like drugs, overweight, school and PT failure are no longer fast outs, if at all.

As well, when you look up a bill, you need to include HR, as in "HR4752" typing in just the number ("4752") won't turn up anything, but you probably already knew that.

And yes, in a volunteer army, when I make a contract or re-enlist for X amount of time, I expect to serve for X amount of time, no more than this and I gave no less than 100% of myself for this.

And yes, it is incredible what people will make themselves not see when getting to that magic 20 is all that matters. Obeying without questioning is not the mark of a good American or patriot.

You can tell when elections start to get close, the liberals have to pull out the draft conspiracy again. Just like every other lie they've tried, they never have legs...

You're a dolt if you joined the military thinking it was nothing more than a contract. I was stop lossed twice during my 20 years, never cried about it, picked up my ruck and went where I was required.

DOD link below also debunks your 38,000 person deficit:

OK, I went to the House of Representatives website and could find no HR 4752 for the 2nd session of the 109th Congress. Feel free to check for yourself, it's incredible the lies people like yourself make up and believe:

God. Another "draft conspiracy". Remember during the last Presidential election the Demoflats kept spouting off about the draft? Still waiting for it to happen...

Just the hypocrites. My husband and I have already made a deal. If they reinstate the draft, we are moving to Canada.

Lots probably will.A lot of hardcore conservatives are actually just big puttytats inside.A draft will show what a facade conservative grumbling is.

I'm not sure about the term "closet liberals", but I'm sure we'll see quite a few cowards.
