Good.

A baby, when given an early upbringing with the necessities taken care of, tends to be a happy, even joyful being. People LEARN to be bad, or if you choose, evil.

I believe that mankind is inherently both, what i mean is that all of us have good an evil characteristics, some of them are stronger that the other, but we use to have a combination.
I belive as much as human being have to take both of this tendencies, there is a big influence of the environment, the education, the information to lead everyone to improve one or another of the characteristics.
So, it's much of the comunities to reinforce the good behaviour, and to really punish the evil, in order to the society to become better.
I believe in Good, of course, better than in evil to get what you want, or you need, wich has been lately tergiversed in most of our societies.
And it can be applied to personal behavior, as well as group acts.

I think that you could see the answer one of three ways. You could first see man as inherently good. This does make the divine ruler of the universe look good. It however ignores the problem of why humans would commit evil. One could also see humanity as inherently evil only. This side basically has the reverse good and bad points. There is however a third way of dealing with the question. Reformer Martin Luther wrote that man in his nature is "justus et simul peccator", or both saint and sinner simultaneously. In this classification, humans are inherently both good and evil. Good, because humans have been made by the divine entity. Bad, because humans have naturally evil inclinations that encourage them to choose evil.

Mankind's evil. Just take a look at history:

*The Dean Family: a bunch of serial killers who, ironically enough, were sentenced to death by King James(the bible guy)

*Vlad the Impaler: drank the blood of corpses after supposedly fighting(and saving some lives)in the name of good.

*The Manson Family

*George W. Bush

*Osama and his followers.

Sure, I did some massive skipping between time periods, but you get the point. Mankind is evil. And I find it odd, how great leaders such as Jesus, Martin Luther King, and Gandhi were all assassinated in some form, but Hitler had to kill himself. Man craves blood; why do you think movies such as The Godfather, Goodfellas, etc. are more likely to end up in someone's DVD player rather than The Passion of the Christ???????

Mankind, I believe , is inherently BOTH. We are born good, but knowledge and false judgement corrupt man. Evil is given more power over man, yet man still seeks truth, what is right, and yearns for love and acceptance--forgiveness... That is why the Good will win!! "Love conquers All...." God Bless You

I don't think humankind is either good or evil by nature. I think humankind is inherently self interested. This drive to take care of self can, yes, lead to some seriously negative actions occurring, but it can lead to good as well - babies and even video games being examples of this.

It depends on your perception. If you're more of an optimist, man is trying to improve the Earth and its inhabitants' way of life in general, and sometimes have to make sacrifices to fulfill that. Think forest depletion, testing products on animals(which are seen as secondary to humans).
To me, it's the latter. We have been sucked into a vortex of technology, in the process, disregarding pressing and intricate environmental issues. This, will be our downfall.

i think mankind is neither inherently good or evil- we react to different situations around us- and if we make "good" or "evil" choices- so be it.

NO ONE is evil. WE made the category up and put it on people, but it isn't true unless you believe in satan, devils, sin. People make 'mistakes' and huge ones sometimes.. but they always do it for their own personal "good".

i think good is a positive value meaning good always involves work to produce it , so that means it isnt just there
it follows that everything is inherently evil.
good is only in our hearts(some of us at least)
