I would suggest water aerobics. Exercise in the water is less hard on the body and the baby. Plus it is really relaxing while at the same time really works the muscles. Most YMCA's offer one and some even offer specifics low impact exercises for pregnant women.

i'm only 26 wks...so i don't know what that 36 wk stage is like yet...but i've been keeping active by doing some yoga stretches in the morning and evening (may be difficult for you to start now....not sure) and i walk my puppy dog 2-3 times a day (if you don't have a dog, you can walk yourself, with your husband or you can borrow my dog...he'd love more walks!!!!). i also swim at the pool on the weekends. so, any water ideas would be great, since the water takes lots of pressure off your body!

don't overdo it, though!!! you still have a few weeks left!!

take care and congrats...you're almost there!!!

If you have previously excercised most doctors advise that it could be detrimental to the baby to start now. Weak and helpless is how you are supposed to feel. That is God's way of having you "rest up" because once the baby gets here, you will not rest again......ever!

Good luck, I hope your delivery goes well.

A good exercise is to swivel your hips, sort of like a hula dance, but not very fast. This helps move the baby into position and actually can make you a bit more comfortable. I'm not a hula dancer, so I have to concentrate to get started, but then it is pretty easy.

OMG are you crazy!!! im only 34 weeks and i couldn't do any excerise at the moment i can bearly waddel down the drive way!!! i feel way to fat and carry way to much extra weight to do that your crazy lol, at 36 weeks tho i think all you can really do is gentle walking and swimming, because of the extra weight, personally i think you should just sit back and relax thats what i've been doin!!

I took a pregnancy aerobics class until the week I had my daughter. It was wonderful. A lot of hopping (small, gentle hops of course!) and just moving more with the advantage of feeling lighter because of the water.

walking is very good and recommended by doctors. You will do no harm to your baby. I understand exactly what you are feeling. What I did was that I always exercised and in someway I felt more energetic and healthier. So do lots of walking...

At that stage I would not advice to take exercise, but to prepare for delivery instead.
