Im a little confused. I just explained my situation a minute ago and got responses to go to the hospital, but Im wondering why? Yesterday I got my membranes stripped or swept at my doctor appt. Before she did it I was 80% effaced and 2cm dilated. Last night I got pains ( which I thought was contractions ) it started in my back and went to my stomach. My whole stomach would turn hard. It wasnt really painful but I could feel it. So I figured oh these are contractions... I went to sleep thinking over time I would wake up with pain from the contractions. I didnt. I woke up right now, with it basically doing the same thing. A little stronger and my whole stomach sore... but not really intense pain. Can this be possible? It takes this long? I dont want the answer go to the hospital, cause they arnt five minutes apart yet/ or painful. This is my second baby as well. Can anyone give me advice or tell me why its doing this?

My last labor I got my membranes stripped and the next day my water started leaking. I didnt have contractions I could feel, just went in and they started me on pitocin... soon as my water broke I could feel intense pain.... but I dont remember the pain being on and off when that happened. So not really knowing what to expect this time.

You are probably in early labor. You can call your dr, but he will probably tell you to call back when they are 5 min apart and coming regularly or are extremely painful. Until then RELAX...try to get some rest - you have much ahead of you! Take it easy...or if you are anxious to get things started, then go for a walk or clean house - excercise usually speeds things up. Congrats!! You are about to have a baby!! YAY!!!

Some womens contractions are farther apart than others. I had the same issue with my labor. I had those type of contractions for 3 days. I also had problems delivering the placenta because the cervix closed on it. I would say just stay home until you feel that it is really close, but you are better off making sure and going to the hospital. Good luck.

with my daughter i did the same thing. I knew they would send me home if the pains weren't regular. I just waited until i couldn't stand the contractions anymore. I made the mistake of going to the er with this pregnancy and they sent me home after 20 min of being on monitors and checking me. I was having contractions but they weren't regular and I didn't even notice them as a contraction. As long as your not having probs. I would wait. I am waiting for mine to start. Im dilated to 2 and 50% effaced.Email me and let me know when you have it!!!

Labor can take a very long time, maybe what your experiencing is the first signs of labor. If your that concerned about it, just call the doctors office and explain to them what is going on, I am sure one of the nurses in the office can help you out. Good luck

every child birth is different.
when i had my first child, they were 2 min apart and i could not dialate or 5cm.i was like this for 12hrs.
if you had your first one natural, you may need a little help.
its' just one of those things that time will tell.
there are some women that stay in labor for wks. but can tolerate the disomfort.
this is your brakstin hicks contrations (i think this is what it called)
if your due now, try walking in place. walking always enduce labor.
does this help????

call your obgyn.. .she will let you know if it is time go to the hospital or not.. You could be having strong contractions but just not feeling them right now and they may be 5 min apart becuase you arn't feeling them... regardless if you are having contractions you would rather be safe then deliverying your own baby at home.

time your contractions. when they are close, and when they interfere with your ability to perform functions (like making a sandwich) then you should call.

if you go to the hospital they will only send you home. wait for intense contractions.

and how quick was your last labor?

It's probably nothing Your labor might not be coming as fast as you thought. But it will be here soon. I guess you can just relax stop worrying about it get your mind off of it and if it still happens breathe. I guess.

Sounds like early labor. If your doctor says to stay home and monitor then listen to him and sit tight. You will know when it's time to go.
