The Philippines is a collection of islands in the Pacific Ocean about 400 miles south-east of the coast of China. Most of the country is in the Northern Hemisphere, but just barely (the southernmost islands straddle the equator). The largest island is Luzon, where the capital Manila is. The other main islands are Leyte, Cebu, Mindanao, Palawan, Mindoro, Samar, Panay, and ******.
