True, you can use spit but it really doesn't seem to be as effective as defog that is sold in dive shops and some sporting goods stores. Baby shampoo works well too. My favorite is liquid dish soap! I know, it doesn't sound like a good idea but hear me out.
Wet your goggles and place one drop for goggles. Masks may need more. Spread the liquid evenly. RINSE WELL (I give my mask a few shakes in the water) to avoid stinging later on. Do not use your fingers to rinse because you will remove the film. Your fingers have oils that will cause your goggles to fog too.
The reason I like dish soap because it is cheap and readily available. Most are biodegradable.
Why it works...after washing, dish soap leaves a 'sheeting film' that prevents dishes from leaving water spots on dishes. It is gone after it evaporates. When you wear a mask or in this case goggles it traps moisture inside so it doesn't evaporate.
You may have to reapply if you remove your goggles for too long or often. Remember to rinse it well. I have used this for hundreds of diving customers with no allergic reaction but if you do get irritation, discontinue.

well i find that spiting in them and then rubbing it around real well works just ok. Here are some other options. Go with number 4.
1. you can buy anti-fog sollution
2.(what i use to do and many other competitive swimmers) cover the inside of your goggles with saliva using your tongue (i swim about 5 hours a day and they dont fog up during this time)
3. buy new goggles with anti-fog solution and DONT TOUCH THE INSIDE (but it does wear out after a while
4. Something I saw when i was on a dive trip was to get a small bottle of Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo. Put a drop on the inside of the lens and then rinse. I use this exclusively now cause it works great! I now dive all the time and have no more issues. This was shown to my by a divemaster and it truely does work and works well. Go this route.

If you spit in them, just a bit, and then rinse it out with water just before you put them, you will be fine - most of the time. Otherwise, you may want to get anti-fog goggles or use anti-fog drops, there are lots of different ones on the market nowadays.

You can buy anti-fog solution at a sporting goods store, or you can spit in your goggles swirl it around, and then wash it out whenever they begin to fog up.

Wash them in washing-up liquid before use. A thin film of detergent on the lenses prevents the condensation adhering to the lens.
