i think what you mean is OCPD - obsessive-compulsive personality disorder

OCD is a psychological disorder wherein patients engage in repetitive patterns. They can't help it. The person feels like it will be the end of the world if he can't keep repeating what he's doing. An example is: when reading a passage from a book, the person understands the message clearly, but due to his OCD he keeps reading the same lines over and over again till he gets satisfied for himself.

OCPD is a personality disorder and the people having this carry the symptoms all their lives. They're very good in details. Most good accountants have this disorder for their indisputable knack for minute details. A person with OCPD is a perfectionist who does not usually take any suggestions. This personality disorder is rarely of compulsions or repetitive patterns (this is OCD). Persons obsessed on cleaning the house all the time have OCPD.

I never thought of it that way! It is a useful illness! In fact, I wish I had more compulsive tendencies. My biggest problem is that I'm cranky without caffeine ~ not really useful. But if I *HAD* to clean my house all the time... wow! That would be great! If only you could choose to not have all the other crap that goes with OCD.... *sigh* I guess no one gets to have it all! ;-) Good luck on your search to find the perfect OCD woman!

OCD goes beyond a tidy house, what would you do if your wife started obsessing about where you were all the time, or what you were doing? What if she started getting obsessed about someone else and stopped cleaning your house?

Well speaking as someone who has OCD I don't suffer from a cleanliness compulsion. I do however suffer from obsessions and ritual behavior. But just keep in mind the majority of people who have OCD don't suffer from the clean obsession aspect of it and it mostly has to do with severe anxiety disorder.

Sharky dude, OCD is some serious stuff, it is not only about cleaning the house it is a terrible illness. A person can wash there hands so many times in a row that they start to bleed. It is sad.

I don't think I have OCD, but I do love my house clean. I clean all the time and it bothers everyone around me. I think it bothers everyone because I have gotten to the point that it someone leaves spots on my stainless steel sinks it annoys me and I have to clean it right away, no matter what we are doing. I just like having a clean house. I could go on and on. So, yes, I am one of those out there.

Sounds like you want to marry a perfectionist or a psycho. Those types who can't stop cleaning and nag you about every little thing out of place can get annoying. Did you watch the movie "Sleeping with the Enemy" well those types can kill you or beat you if things aren't their way. So be careful what you wish for.

OCD is not just about cleaning. Many people with OCD have other ritualistic behaviors like making sure the door is locked, walking a certain way, etc.
(didn't mean to lecture but my son is OCD and he is NOT a clean freak .....even though I wish he was!)

There are plenty of us out there. I'd say I'm slightly ocd, or perhaps a bit more than that. I color coordinate my closet. Each color has its own designated section and so forth. Plus, I have to have even amounts of things ie: candles on top of a bookshelf have to be the same amount on each side. It's kind of sad but everything must be organized.

Apparantly I don't fit the bill. I'm only 12% obsessive. Guess what? I don't like to clean house either. I do it, but don't like it. I guess we won't be getting married. I'll tell my husband he's safe for now.

Maybe you should have the women you're interested in take the test before you start dating them...It's just for fun!
