Since both the book and the film are works of fiction, there is nothing to believe in.

However, the underlying story of the Holy Grail, including its more recent implications, is represented correctly.
The whole Catholic Church is built on a system of lies, and any one who bothers researching the (quite complex) subject for a while will find out for themself.

part of brown's book has to do with a french bloodline that has since been prooved fraudulent. it is obviously fiction, more of a thriller than anything else
